Advanced Civilization

Advanced Civilization is a strategy game based on the board game of the same name. Players guide a nation in the Mediterranean across roughly 8,000 years, from the beginnings of agriculture to the emergence of Rome as the dominant power.

Military action is possible, but the central objective is broader than conquest. Success depends on balancing cultural, economic, political, and religious development to build the strongest civilization. Conflicts generally arise from competition for limited land rather than attempts to eliminate opposing nations.

Combat and other calculations are resolved without chance, with event cards providing the main exception. These cards can introduce calamities such as earthquakes or revolts.
