About this game

Alpiner is a third-person action game about reaching the summit of six different mountains. Players must avoid falling rocks, avalanches, wild animals, trees, and brush fires while making steady progress up each peak.

Hazards can knock the climber down part of the mountain, with some causing shorter falls and others sending the player much farther. Falling all the way to the bottom costs a life. Voice synthesis warns when danger is nearby, while each mountain also imposes a time limit that counts down only when the climber is moving.

As the game progresses, the mountains grow higher and the obstacles become faster and more numerous. Developed and published by Texas Instruments, Alpiner was released for the Texas Instruments TI-99 and TI 99-4A.
