Music-based rhythm action competition game

The briefing

About this game

American Idol is a music-based rhythm-action game built around the televised singing competition. Create, style, and train a contestant before guiding them through auditions, heats, and the grand final.

During performances, match button combinations shown on screen to help your contestant sing in harmony and dance to the rhythm. Mistimed inputs cause the voice to fade and go out of tune, unsettling the computer-generated judges and, later, the audience. The game features computer-generated versions of Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul, and Simon Cowell, including their trademark insults.
