Amnios

Amnios is a multi-directionally scrolling top-down shoot ’em up developed by Flying Chicken Software and published by Psygnosis. Released in 1990 for Amiga, it spans ten levels, with each level representing a planet whose ecosystem has been infected.

Its controls focus on thrusting and rotating in the style of Asteroids. Players can complete a level in two ways: destroy enough of the infection for the planet to survive, or rescue enough citizens in a Defender-style objective. Blueprints can be collected and returned to the ship to create specialized weapons for destroying specific organs of the infection.
