A VIC-20 arcade shooter about defending spider eggs from advancing ants

The briefing

About this game

Arachnoid is a fixed-screen arcade shooter for the Commodore VIC-20. You control a spider defending its eggs from waves of hostile ants that advance horizontally toward the lower part of the screen.

The spider fires webs that form walls, redirecting the ants and shaping the play area. Gnats and flies can carry ants and create openings through the webbing, while wasps occasionally cross the screen. The game continues until the eggs hatch or the ants take them all; successful hatching leads to a tougher level.
