Arcade mini-games with military-style performance rankings

The briefing

About this game

Arcade Boot Camp is an arcade-style game for the Apple II in which players control a small helmeted character with legs and train across five separate arcade stations. Each mini-game awards a performance rank represented by military insignia.

Training Events

  • Driver Education: Steer a vehicle along a fast-moving, winding road.
  • Survival Training: Clear progressively more complex environmental challenges.
  • Chopper Practice: Fly through increasingly difficult mazes to collect numbered cargo. Advanced stages add cannons, landing-pad deliveries, and fuel pressure.
  • Obstacle Course: Avoid falling bombs, moving rocks, and cannonfire while surviving to a count of 10. Later stages include bonus flags to collect.
  • Target Practice: Shoot targets before time expires, with limited misses. Rankings are based on accuracy and completion time.

Released in 1983 and published by Penguin Software, the game combines arcade, platform, and racing elements into a varied skills-training challenge.
