Adventure across the Arctic as a polar bear and other wildlife
The briefing
Arctic Tale is an adventure game based on the National Geographic documentary of the same name. Released on October 10, 2007, it is available for Nintendo DS and Nintendo Game Boy Advance.
Players begin as a polar bear cub and adult, exploring eleven snowy stages while searching for food and collecting paw prints. Paw prints unlock photo-gallery pictures and additional chapters. Later sections add a walrus, an Arctic fox, and an orca whale, with the walrus able to explore underwater areas.
Free-roaming land and underwater environments require animals to gather food before the heart icon fades away. The game also includes 16 mini-games, such as Ice Slide, Food Fight, Ice Flow Rodeo, Survive the Cold, Catch-a-Seal, Clam Scavenge, Walrus Hunt, and Orca Race. Bronze, silver, and gold awards from these activities unlock additional chapters.
