A classic exploration adventure by Brian Howarth
The briefing
Arrow of Death: Part 1 is Brian Howarth’s second Mysterious Adventure, continuing after the recovery of the Golden Baton. The baton has become tarnished and now radiates evil, while crop failures and illness spread throughout the land.
The quest is to find and assemble the Arrow of Death. Objects such as armour, an orb, and an eagle can assist along the way. Gameplay focuses primarily on exploration and object manipulation, with little combat.
Built with the Scott Adams adventure engine, the game uses a basic two-word parser, a small vocabulary, and brief descriptions. It was published by Channel 8 Software for systems including the Acorn Electron, Atari 8-bit, BBC Microcomputer System, Commodore 16, Commodore C64/128/MAX, Commodore Plus/4, Commodore VIC-20, Dragon 32/64, Sinclair ZX Spectrum, TRS-80, and ZX Spectrum.
