Astro Invader

Astro Invader is a fixed-screen shoot 'em up in which the player moves a laser base along the bottom of the screen and fires at attacking aliens.

Aliens dropped from their mothership form columns. When a column is full, its lowest alien dives toward the ground and explodes, forcing the player to avoid the blast radius. UFOs also appear in the center and at the sides of the screen; if they land, they destroy the player regardless of position. The game ends after all three lives are lost.

The Japanese version, Kamikaze, includes more columns, center-only UFO appearances, side attacks by regular aliens, and larger blast radii from crashing aliens.
