A space-suited astronaut escapes a monster-filled planetary maze

About this game

Back to Reality is an action-adventure platform game in which an astronaut must escape a maze hidden inside a planet. The maze consists of interconnected rooms, many containing monsters to avoid.

Fuel is central to survival: contact with monsters and use of the jetpack reduce the astronaut’s supply. Running out of fuel costs a life. Players can also collect chemical containers, carry one chemical at a time, switch between chemicals, and combine some of them to produce new chemicals and explosions.

Released in 1985, the game was developed by Steve Elward and Steve Elwood and published by Mastertronic. It appeared on Amstrad CPC, Commodore 64, and Commodore C64/128/MAX.
