About this game

Ball Breakers is an action, fighting, and sports game set on Alpha Prime, a prison planet built to hold criminals. You play as a synthetic lifeform wrongly sentenced to imprisonment for eternity, with freedom offered through victory in a series of competitions.

Before competing, prisoners undergo a procedure that removes their legs and replaces them with a rolling sphere. Events take place across 10 incarceration facilities and include Pursuit, Last Man Rolling, Race, King of the Hill, Run the Gauntlet, Tag, and Powerball.

Events

  • Run the Gauntlet: Reach the goal within a time limit while avoiding opponents, flamethrowers, spikes, and gun turrets.
  • Pursuit: Reach the goal while the arena crumbles away.
  • Powerball: Collect balls and throw them at a goalpost before time expires.
  • Tag: Collect a set number of tokens scattered throughout the arena within the time limit.

The game was released in 2000 for Dreamcast, PC (Microsoft Windows), and PlayStation.
