About this game

Bandits is a one- or two-player arcade shooter centered on joystick-controlled aerial combat. In the single-player mode, players practice dogfighting by pursuing and shooting a computer-controlled plane.

Gameplay

  • Pulling the joystick down makes the plane climb, while pushing up makes it dive.
  • Moving the joystick sideways increases the plane's speed.
  • The options include one- or two-player play, day or night backgrounds, clouds, flak, and airships.
  • Planes cannot be shot down while inside clouds, but they can collide with one another.
  • Flak can shoot down either plane, and airships fire when a plane flies too close.
  • Flying into the red area at the top of the screen can cause a plane to stall.

Released in 1981, Bandits was developed by Benny Aik Beng Ngo and John Taylor. It was published by Micro Power and Sirius Software for Apple II, Atari 8-bit, Atari 800, BBC Microcomputer System, Commodore C64/128/MAX, and Commodore VIC-20.
