Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker is a side-scrolling, one-player action game based on the animated movie. Set in a futuristic Gotham City, it follows Batman as he investigates the mysterious return of the Joker.

The game features 16 levels patterned after the animated series. Progression is not strictly linear, giving players opportunities to search for hidden rooms, weapons, and enemies while avoiding traps placed throughout the stages.

Batman can fight using his fists and feet or weapons such as a club and Magnetic NunChaku. Players can also use five different Batsuits, each with its own special ability, while working toward stopping the Joker for good.
