About this game

Battle Lode Runner is an action-puzzle sequel to Lode Runner, developed and published by Hudson Soft. Originally released in Japan for the NEC PC Engine and TurboGrafx-16, it centers on collecting gold across platform-filled levels while avoiding enemies.

Players use a drill to create holes and capture pursuing enemies. Drilling only disables them temporarily, however, allowing them to respawn after a few seconds and continue the chase. The game’s defining feature is its five-player mode, which adapts the series’ platform action into a competitive format with drilling in place of bombing.
