A maze-based arcade pursuit game starring a carrot-hunting rabbit

The briefing

About this game

Bimbo is an arcade race and pursuit game for the Sinclair ZX Spectrum. You control Bimbo, a rabbit navigating multi-level mazes to find ten hidden carrots while black killer rabbits give chase.

Gameplay

Movement uses energy, which is restored by eating carrots. Green apples can be dropped to distract pursuing rabbits, while clovers provide extra points. A carrot-radar helps locate the ten carrots hidden in each maze, which extends beyond the visible screen.

Levels are completed by collecting all ten carrots. Enemy numbers increase by one between levels, reaching up to ten pursuers. Every fourth level removes the enemies and instead challenges you to find the carrots against a timer.

Bimbo loses a life if caught, falls into a pit, runs out of energy, or fails to beat the time limit. The game provides five extra lives. Scores are based on how quickly the carrots are collected and how many clovers are eaten, with a single high score available for comparison.
