A microscopic vertical shooter set inside the human body

The briefing

About this game

Bio Attack is a vertical arcade shooter in which you pilot a microscopic ship through a human body while attempting to save a person. Devil-like creatures in the bloodstream attack with arrows, and only two bullets can be on screen at once.

Movement affects the pace of the scrolling, which is important because an oxygen bar acts as a time limit. Running out of oxygen costs a life, while oxygen capsules restore the timer. The journey continues through several internal environments, including battles against a bacterium in the heart, dividing blobs in the bloodstream, a virus in the stomach, difficult bugs, and a maze inside the eyeball. The game appears to loop after the eyeball section.

Released in 1982, the game was published by Taito Corporation for arcade play and Final Burn Alpha Neo.
