About this game

Blitzkrieg is a tank battle shooter released on July 31, 1979. The player controls a fixed-view gun turret positioned at the bottom of the screen, with realistic recoil when firing.

Moving left and right scrolls the distant landscape to simulate a cockpit view. Enemy tanks appear at varying distances, move in real time, and can turn toward the player before launching dangerous shells. Fired shells take longer to reach distant targets, while explosions sound quieter over greater distances.

Destroying more distant tanks earns higher scores, and continued progress leads to promotion through increasingly senior military ranks. The game was developed by Mark Cross and Simon Vout and published by Programma International, Inc. and Software Invasion.
