About this game
Blue Thunder is a side-scrolling shooter and TV tie-in in which you pilot a powerful new “jetcopter” after an alien assault. Fly across a sea of heavily defended islands, reach the enemy stronghold, disable its defenses, and rescue your comrades.
Your jetcopter can fire at any angle, including straight down, but your fuel supply is constantly dwindling. Completing the mission unlocks another attempt at a higher difficulty, featuring faster-firing enemies, planes, barrage balloons, and missile-armed submarines.
The Commodore version scrolls in the opposite direction and includes some smaller environmental-graphics differences. The Atari 8-bit release was later reissued with an Airwolf license and a redesigned helicopter model.
