About this game

Bomb Jack is an arcade action-platform game released by Tehkan in 1984. Players control Jack, a hero who can jump high and float through the air while collecting all 24 red bombs in each round.

Gameplay

Enemies include birds and mummies. When they reach the bottom of the screen, they can transform into flying saucers, orbs, and other hazards. Contact with an enemy costs Jack a life.

Collecting bombs fills the bonus meter, with lit bombs providing a larger increase. Filling the meter causes a bouncing P to appear; collecting it temporarily turns enemies into bonus coins. B, E, and rare S bonuses increase the score multiplier, award an extra life, or provide a free game respectively.

The game features five screens with distinct platform layouts, including one screen with no platforms. Collecting 21 or more lit bombs consecutively triggers a special bonus.

Related Releases

Bomb Jack was followed by Mighty Bomb Jack, Bomb Jack Twin, and Bomb Jack II, with the latter licensed for home computers.
