A 3D Breakout-style arcade game with racquetball-inspired play
The briefing
BreakThru is a racquetball-like arcade game presented as a 3D variation of Breakout. The player stands at one end of a rectangular room and uses a squarish paddle to return a ball toward a brick wall at the opposite end.
Each successful hit removes a brick. In the computer version, every brick must be cleared to advance, with later levels adding more bricks to the wall. Players begin with five balls. In the console version, each level contains 72 bricks, and 57 must be destroyed to progress; the number of available balls decreases in later levels, while Level 1 starts with 99 balls.
