Roll, jump, and cork magical bubble bottles in a 3D platforming adventure.

The briefing

About this game

In Bubbler, the wizard tyrant Vadra has enslaved the inhabitants of Irkon, transforming them into immobile blobs. His giant bottles produce magical bubbles and mutant enemies that enforce his control.

With abilities granted by Vadra’s former assistant Kintor, the player controls a bubble that can roll and jump across a 3D arrangement of platforms, towers, slopes, chutes, and elevators. Mini bubbles can be used to shoot enemies, while crabs emerge from generators and additional bubbles pour from the bottles.

Gameplay

  • Cork five bottles on each level to weaken Vadra’s control and unlock the exit.
  • Navigate platform-based environments using rolling, jumping, chutes, and elevators.
  • Defeat enemies with mini bubbles.
  • Use a directional gauge to show the bubble’s facing and movement direction.

Developed by Mark Betteridge and Ultimate Play the Game, Bubbler was released in 1986 for Amstrad CPC, MSX, and Sinclair ZX Spectrum.
