Light-gun shooter on a computer circuit board

The briefing

About this game

Bug Hunt is a light-gun shooter for Atari computers, designed for the Atari XG-1 and bundled with the Atari XEGS and standalone XG-1. Players defend sections of a computer circuit board by shooting waves of bugs, including flies, spiders, butterflies, and ticks.

The game features seven waves with increasingly numerous and challenging targets. Large, stationary bugs are easier to hit, while smaller, faster-moving pests award more points. Advancing requires meeting a wave-specific accuracy percentage, ranging from 25% for the second wave to 80% for the final wave. The score is converted into a performance rating, progressing from business titles such as CEOs and managers to technical titles including programmers, hackers, and engineers.
