Bugs

Bugs is an action-focused arcade shooter for the Atari 2600, developed and published by Data Age in 1982. You are sent to a long-dead planet to investigate life signs, only to encounter giant bugs and a mysterious Phylanx.

Gameplay

As bugs emerge from their nests, position your crosshair beneath them and fire. The Phylanx changes from green to dark green and then red; once red, it moves back and forth across the screen. You lose a life if a bug fully leaves its nest or if the crosshair is touched by a red Phylanx.

Scoring and Modes

• Destroying a bug awards 1 point.
• Destroying the Phylanx awards 5 points.
• Reaching 30 points advances you to the next level and awards an 8-point bonus.
• Choose between one- and two-player games.
• Difficulty settings support beginner and advanced play for each player.
