About this game

Castles II: Siege & Conquest is a 1992 role-playing, simulation, and strategy game developed by Almathera Systems and published by Interplay. Players choose one of five feuding lords competing for the Crown.

Victory requires balancing conquest, espionage, sabotage, diplomacy, military strength, and the approval of both the Pope and the people. Reaching 7,000 points allows a lord to petition the Pope for the throne, but those points must be maintained for four to five game months after receiving support. Rivals attack once papal backing is declared, making preparation essential.

The game features a revised interface, more efficient castle construction, and the ability to save pre-made castles for quick placement. Battles use a separate full-screen view where players can position and command individual units. CD-based versions also include video cutscenes.
