About this game

Chequered Flag is a first-person racing game for the ZX Spectrum, developed by Steve Kelly for Psion Software and published by Sinclair Research in 1983. It was among the earliest computer car simulators and the first driving game published for the ZX Spectrum.

Players choose from three cars, including the Ferretti and McFaster, with manual and automatic transmission options. Races take place across circuits such as Brands Hatch, Circuit de Monaco, Österreichring, Monza, Paul Ricard, Silverstone, and four fictional tracks.

With no competing cars on the circuit, the objective is to complete laps in the best possible time while avoiding hazards including oil and broken glass. Fuel consumption and engine overheating must be managed, and pit stops can repair damage and replenish fuel.
