Chrono Cross

Chrono Cross is a Squaresoft role-playing adventure released on November 18, 1999. Players control Serge while exploring an island world on foot and by boat.

Progress takes place across an overhead overworld map, villages, outdoor areas, and dungeons. Three-dimensional field maps let players speak with locals, obtain items and services, solve puzzles and challenges, and confront enemies.

Unlike RPGs with random encounters, enemies are visible on field maps or can wait to ambush the party. The game is associated with adventure, role-playing, and turn-based strategy genres, and was released for PlayStation, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Portable.
