Action-puzzle game about outwitting mutant worms in a cabbage patch

The briefing

About this game

In Chrysalis, mutant worms pursue you through a cabbage patch while laying eggs that can hatch into additional worms. Survival depends on racing around the garden, navigating swinging gates, and eating eggs before they hatch.

Gameplay

Blue eggs are recorded at the bottom of the screen, and collecting nine grants an extra life. Eating red “M” items increases the score multiplier. The central egg can lock the swinging gates, release four flies, and increase the multiplier as a bonus. Skulls are lethal.

Scoring

  • Cabbages: 10 points
  • Red eggs: 10 points
  • Green or blue eggs: 100 points

Chrysalis was released for the BBC Microcomputer System in 1984 and developed and published by Icon.
