A faithful text-adventure reworking of Colossal Cave Adventure

About this game

Classic Adventure is a reworking of Will Crowther and Don Woods’ Colossal Cave Adventure. Originally released as Adventure 1 by Abersoft in 1982 for the ZX Spectrum, it was later renamed and published by Melbourne House on multiple platforms.

The adventure begins outside a small brick building, from which players can enter and explore a cave system. Along the way, they encounter characters, magic items, and treasures that must be transported back to the well house.

The game retains classic magic words such as Xyzy and Plurgh, which teleport the player between certain rooms. A score increases as treasures are returned, with a maximum of 210 points. Progress can be saved to a blank cassette tape.
