About this game

Classic Trainer is a horse-racing management simulation in which you own and manage up to five horses while pursuing victory in The Derby.

Season Management

Each season lasts 20 weeks, with up to three races available at each weekly meeting. Before racing, you can work out your horses, treat injuries, take out a loan, and retain a jockey, with these choices affecting your finances. You begin with £5000 and can also sell horses when needed.

Horse information includes fitness, class, and race statistics. Finding the best distance for each horse is an important part of the early game, while betting provides another way to manage your money. Racing results are calculated without race animation and presented alongside a still image.

The Derby

Continue training and racing through the season before deciding at week 20 whether to enter your horses in The Derby. Entry costs must be considered, and bankruptcy ends the game.
