Guide Zen the Mole through timed stick-clearing puzzles

The briefing

About this game

Collapse is an action-platform puzzle game starring Zen the Mole. Each stage presents a network of sticks that Zen must turn blue by walking over them while yellow.

Zen can turn red to build bridges leading to the stick network, but this state lasts only a few seconds. Once the sticks are blue, he releases the Rotox, a white line that travels along adjacent blue sticks and destroys them on contact. Every stick must be cleared within the time limit to advance.

Gameplay

  • Two creatures roam each screen and cost Zen 100 units of time if they touch him.
  • Magic dust can make the creatures disappear before they resurrect in their original positions.
  • Jewels occasionally appear and provide extra time.

Collapse was developed by Paul Johnson and published by Firebird Software for Amstrad CPC, Atari 8-bit, and Commodore C64/128/MAX.
