A point-and-click adventure of Robin Hood, ransom, and rebellion
The briefing
Conquests of the Longbow: The Legend of Robin Hood is a Sierra adventure game set in 1193, after Richard the Lionheart is abducted by Duke Leopold. With Prince John plotting to seize the throne, Robin Hood and the outlaws of Sherwood Forest seek to raise the ransom needed to free the king.
Using an icon-based point-and-click interface, the game emphasizes exploration and situation-driven tasks over traditional inventory puzzles. Players talk to characters, gather information, make decisions, solve riddles, and take part in mini-games including combat, archery contests, and Nine Men's Morris, with adjustable difficulty.
The story is divided into days, and some objectives can be missed without stopping progress. Player choices influence Robin Hood's final ranking, along with the points earned, ransom collected, and the fate of his fellow outlaws. These factors lead to one of four possible endings.
Developed and published by Sierra On-Line, the game was released for Amiga and MS-DOS.
