A multi-race arcade driving challenge with gear changes, pit stops, and qualifying positions
The briefing
Continental Circus is an arcade-style chase-view racing game built around an eight-race championship. The opening event takes place in Brazil and features a field of 100 cars; to advance, you must finish within the required qualifying position.
As the races continue, the field becomes smaller while the acceptable finishing position becomes stricter. Your car includes high and low gears and can be damaged by collisions with other cars or trackside scenery.
Crashes trigger a pit-stop sequence. You must return to the pits successfully, avoiding further collisions, or lose several seconds in a crash. The game was released for arcade and home platforms including Amiga, Amstrad CPC, Atari ST, Commodore 64, MSX, and Sinclair ZX Spectrum.
