About this game

Crackout is a 1991 Konami puzzle game for the Nintendo Entertainment System and Family Computer Disk System. Inspired by Atari’s Breakout games, it challenges players to clear each level by destroying all bricks or defeating the enemies on screen.

Gameplay

Enemies enter from trapdoors or side walls and can be hit to obtain power-ups, including a parachute that slows the ball, multiple balls, and projectiles. Konami Man can also appear as a level warp. Boss encounters occur every few levels and include creatures such as a small dragon and a centipede; their increasing speed is represented by changes from green to blue to pink.

Zones and Progression

The game contains four zones of eleven levels each: Cubic Zone, Mirror Zone, Tube Zone, and Final Zone. Hidden letters in the levels form a password presented at the end of the game. Entering the correct password, MERRYCHRISTMAS, displays end credits featuring a procession of the game’s enemies.
