A space-station life simulation about guiding and caring for Norns

The briefing

About this game

Creatures: Raised in Space is a life simulation game set inside a giant space station protected by a domed ceiling. Players guide Norns indirectly through the cursor and Scrubby, a fairy who issues orders over interactive parts of the environment.

Norns learn behavior through repeated actions rather than direct commands. Their population status is tracked with meters, and they must be kept fed and healthy by eating fruit and using medicinal herbs. They can become sick, exhausted, and eventually die, while breeding and laying eggs that produce offspring after several minutes of growth.

Exploration and Progression

The main objective is to open every room by having Norns carry keys to locked doors and passages. Deeper areas contain aggressive enemies and poisonous plants. Norns can also be trained to collect blue stars and store them in a machine; gathering twenty-five stars produces another key.
