About this game
Darius Alpha is an arcade shooter developed by Bits Laboratory and published by NEC Avenue, Ltd. Built on the same codebase as Darius Plus, it reworks the formula into a boss-fight game focused on battles with successive stage bosses.
The player begins with an unequipped ship and faces King Fossil, the first-level boss. Defeating it grants slight upgrades before the game proceeds directly to the next boss. The game was offered to people who purchased both the CD and HuCard versions of Darius Plus, making it one of the rarest PC Engine releases.
