About this game

Death Race is a racing game released in 1986 for Atari 800, Commodore 64, and Nintendo Entertainment System.

Players guide a heavily modified car through courses in eight U.S. cities, beginning in San Diego and Phoenix and progressing west to east. Each race requires capturing a flag and reaching the exit while avoiding helicopters and heat-seeking missiles.

Money earned by completing races can be spent upgrading the car's engine, steering, tires, chassis, and weapon systems. The game was developed by American Game Cartridges, Atlantis Software, and SIZ, and published by American Game Cartridges, Atlantis Software, and Atlantis Software Ltd.
