1987 sword-fighting game from Palace Software
The briefing
Death Sword is a fighting game first released for Commodore 64 personal computers in 1987. Developed and published by Palace Software, it was later ported to other home computers and licensed to Epyx for publication in the United States.
The game gives players control of sword-wielding barbarians. Its two-player mode centers on battles between opposing characters, while the single-player mode follows a series of challenges set by an evil wizard as the player attempts to rescue a princess.
The game drew attention for its provocative advertising and packaging, which used photographs of hired models rather than painted artwork. Critics praised its energetic combat and touches of humor.
