A strategic naval shooter against an enemy atomic research centre

The briefing

About this game

Death Wake combines strategic planning with arcade naval combat. As Captain of The Undaunted, you must guide the Allies’ final mission to destroy an enemy research centre before atomic weapons research is completed.

Gameplay

The game begins on a map of The Homeland, where you select aircraft and targets to damage enemy positions. Successful attacks can make the route easier, while enemy counterattacks may disable your units for one or two turns.

After each exchange, arcade sequences put you in control of the naval operation. In overhead sections, you command your ship and two escort boats while shooting down aircraft and avoiding bombs, torpedoes, and mines. First-person encounters require you to adjust your gun elevation to find the range of enemy ships while returning fire.

Your ship has a damage meter, and reaching 100 percent ends the game. At the research centre, you face a final first-person challenge: fire shells through its closing doors before they shut.
