The briefing

About this game

Desert Hawk is a 2D side-scrolling shoot-em-up developed by Michael Barnard and published by Players Software in 1985.

Pilot a military helicopter behind enemy lines, search for stranded comrades, and land near them to bring them aboard. Up to three can be carried at once, but they must be returned to your base to complete the rescue.

Mission challenges

  • Land only on safe ground, as indicated by the helicopter’s onboard computer.
  • Survive constant attacks from enemy tanks and aircraft.
  • Watch for especially dangerous heat-seeking missiles.
  • Manage a supply of 100 missiles and limited fuel on each level.

Desert Hawk was released for Commodore C64/128/MAX and Sinclair ZX Spectrum.
