The briefing
Diddy Kong Racing is an adventure racing game developed by Rare and published by Nintendo. When the evil space wizard Wizpig takes over Tiger Island and seals its racetracks, Timber Tiger calls on Diddy Kong and a group of friends to reclaim the island before his parents return.
Alongside Diddy are Krunch, Bumper, Banjo, Conker, Tiptup, and Pipsy. Races feature weapon balloons that can be collected and upgraded by gathering the same color repeatedly, allowing players to use items immediately or save them for more powerful effects.
The single-player adventure includes an overworld, boss races, hidden secrets, cars, hovercrafts, and planes. The Silver Coin Challenge adds an extra objective: finish first while finding eight hidden Silver Coins on each course, including some placed along alternate routes.
Up to four players can compete in races, though additional tracks must first be unlocked in single-player play. Four battle modes include two deathmatch arenas, an egg-capturing mode, and a banana-collection challenge in which players return bananas to their treasure chests while carrying no more than two at a time.
