About this game

Dungeon Explorer is an action role-playing game released on March 4, 1989, for NEC PC Engine, NEC TurboGrafx-16, and Sega CD. The game supports up to four players and offers six character classes: monk, knight, elf, mage, beast, and ninja.

Players begin at a save-point area that serves as a central hub for accessing six dungeons. Outside the hub, a character’s food counter decreases over time; when it reaches zero, life points begin to diminish. Food can be found as potions or pots throughout the mazes. Returning to the save-point area restores the counters and cures conditions such as poisoning and confusion.

Gold collected during the adventure can be used for equipment upgrades at the weapons shop, while the tavern allows players to switch characters.
