About this game
EarthBound is a top-down role-playing game and sequel to Mother. Set in the year 199X, it follows Ness after a meteor crash brings him into contact with Buzz Buzz, a mysterious insect-like visitor who warns that the alien Giygas will conquer the world.
Ness must join forces with Paula, Jeff, and Poo. Together, the four heroes travel through Eagleland and other exotic locations, fighting enemies in turn-based battles and working to end Giygas's influence.
Gameplay
- Visible enemies roam the game world and can be avoided or confronted.
- Characters can attack, use special abilities, use items, or attempt to escape.
- Psychic powers can damage enemies, heal allies, and provide other effects.
- Rolling HP meters allow damage to decrease gradually, giving the party a chance to finish battles before all damage is applied.
- Victories grant experience, while sufficiently strong characters can cause weaker enemies to flee and defeat them instantly when caught.
- Money earned from defeated enemies is deposited into Ness's bank account and can be withdrawn at ATMs for equipment and items.
- Game progress is saved by finding a telephone and calling Ness's father.
