An arcade action game about robbing a moving train
The briefing
Express Raider follows a train robber attempting to steal bags of money from moving locomotives. Its gameplay alternates between two sequences: a fighting section and a shooting section.
On foot, fight the bank teller and coyotes, then jump aboard the train before it departs. Once on the locomotive, battle enemies, avoid bottles, bullets, and coal-filled shovels, and duck beneath low signs while advancing toward the engine.
After reaching the engine, the game shifts to a horseback shooting sequence. Shoot enemies appearing from train-car windows while avoiding their return fire and thrown objects. A woman hands over a bag of money, so take care not to shoot her or lose a life. Completing the sequence restarts the game at a higher difficulty.
The game was developed by Data East, Data East Corporation, and HOMEGA Software, and published by Data East Corporation and U.S. Gold Ltd. It was released for arcade, Amstrad CPC, Commodore 64, Commodore C64/128/MAX, Final Burn Alpha Neo, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable, and ZX Spectrum.
