Arcade-style insect extermination action across seven houses
The briefing
Exterminator is an arcade-style action shooter set in a Chicago overrun by mutated insects, rats, and toy tanks. Players control a seemingly dismembered hand and defend each room as enemies advance toward the screen.
The game spans seven houses, each made up of familiar rooms. Depending on the enemy, threats can be shot, thumped, or squashed. To clear a room, players must eliminate a required number of creatures in each vertically divided lane, changing the colour of squares on the floor as progress is made.
Released in 1989, Exterminator was developed by Audiogenic Software Limited, Douglas Hare, and The Assembly Line, and published by Audiogenic Software. It was released for Amiga, Amstrad CPC, Arcade, Atari ST, Atari ST/STE, Commodore 64, Commodore Amiga, Commodore C64/128/MAX, DOS, MS-DOS, and ZX Spectrum.
