A one-player vertically scrolling shooter inside the human bloodstream

The briefing

About this game

Fantastic Voyage is a one-player vertically scrolling shooter inspired by the 1966 film of the same name. Players pilot a miniaturized submarine through the bloodstream of an ill patient, searching for and destroying deadly blood clots.

The submarine’s laser can eliminate hazards such as bacteria and clotlets. Blood cells must be left unharmed, while enzymes can be shot to release their healing properties. After navigating obstacles and narrow passages, destroying the clot advances the game to the next level. Too many crashes or failing to destroy the clot ends the game.

Several options adjust the difficulty and length of each level. The game was released in 1981 for Amstrad CPC, Atari 8-bit, Atari 800, Atari 2600, Commodore Amiga, and Commodore CDTV.
