A maze-driving challenge from Konami
The briefing
Fast Lane is a top-down maze-driving game where you guide a car through levels made up of two road colours. Change one colour to match the main road colour, gradually transforming the entire maze to advance.
A roaming vehicle pursues you while you navigate the maze. Because your car cannot turn around, using gaps in the walls carefully is essential. Contact with the opposing vehicle costs one of three lives.
People are scattered around the maze; running them over awards one of six power-ups, including jump, shoot, and attack. The attack power-up turns the car into an armoured vehicle capable of ramming the opposing vehicle. Speed can also be increased or reduced during play.
Released in 1986, Fast Lane was developed and published by Konami for Arcade and Final Burn Alpha Neo.
