A text adventure of treasure hunting inside Faust’s mysterious refuge
The briefing
Faust's Folly is a text-based adventure for the Sinclair ZX Spectrum, developed by P. Canter and published by Abbex Electronics.
The game begins in a secluded refuge supposedly built by Faust, a German who sold his soul to the Devil. Known as Faust’s Folly, the hideaway contains mutated creatures, hidden locations, and treasures that must be found and taken outside.
Players interact through text commands and minimal icon graphics while following guidance from a mysterious instructor. Exploration involves guessing directions toward important hidden places, with cold-or-warm clues indicating whether each choice brings the player closer to or farther from the destination. The first loading pack introduces the story and gameplay, while the second contains the game itself.
