A FIFA entry featuring Major League Soccer, classic teams, and expanded national leagues.
The briefing
FIFA 2000: Major League Soccer introduces Major League Soccer to the series, replacing the previously fictional American league. It also adds national leagues from Denmark, Greece, Israel, Norway, and Turkey, while featuring more than 40 national sides and over 40 classic teams representing retired football legends.
The game includes fully integrated seasons, set-piece selections, increased physical contact, shielding, tougher tackling, and new facial animations. Post-season promotion and relegation also appears, although lower-tier teams are not selectable until later in the series.
A new graphics engine aimed to add more emotion to the 3D player models, but the cartoonish visuals and shallow gameplay led to mixed reviews. The opening video features Sol Campbell performing motion capture and appearing in a computer-generated match against a retro 1994 side. Port Vale is included in the Rest of the World section.
