About this game

Firebirds is an arcade shooter based on the arcade game Phoenix. Players control an armed spaceship, maneuvering left and right while battling an invading species of alien birds.

Each level focuses on destroying a complete formation of a particular monster bird, with increasingly strong backup forces. The game culminates in a battle against a grotesque, devilish aviary mothership. Once the final enemy is defeated, the action repeats at a higher difficulty.

Released in 1983 for the ZX Spectrum, Firebirds was developed by Graeme Devine and published by Softek. Its distinctive presentation combines characteristic sound with psychedelic graphics.
