Atari 2600 Pong-inspired sports game with flapping action
The briefing
FlapPing is an Atari 2600 sports game by Kirk Israel, published by Atari Age. It reimagines old-school Pong as a competitive deathmatch with a dedicated flap button.
Players flap to stop the ball from getting past them and score points against an opponent. The game includes classic pong, which resembles arcade Pong, and poorlords, in which each player defends a wall in a style similar to Warlords. Matches can be played against another person or the Atari 2600's AI. A Pterodactyl inspired by Joust adds an unpredictable gameplay element.
Standard games are won by the first player to reach 10 points, while poorlords games use a 3-point victory condition.
